![]() Results indicate that the addition of either type of data can improve plume dispersion forecasts at local scales. The second is focused on wind trajectory information from the actual plumes in question. ![]() The first consists of local data from rawinsondes and meteorological towers. This report describes the sample integration of two different kinds of wind data into a mesoscale plume dispersion forecast system. (Kamada et al., 1997 Start and Kamada, 2001). ![]() In order to do so, the Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) model and the Hazard Prediction Advisory Capability/Second Order Closure Integrated Puff (HPAC/SCIPUFF) model were used as forecast tools to simulate coastal meteorological and plume dispersion data available from the 1995-97 USAF Model Validation Program, sponsored by the USAF Space and Missile Center. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), the purpose of this study is to investigate certain data and remote sensing requirements intended to improve transport and dispersion forecasts for chem/bio threat mitigation in coastal and littoral regions.
